Zion Square, Jerusalem
Zion Square lies at the heart of downtown Western Jerusalem and serves as a central gathering and recreation place and a visual input to the several axes that are facing it. It can be found at the crossroads between Ben-Yehuda Street and Jaffa Road. The square has been central throughout Israeli history and was the site of speeches of leaders such as Menachem Begin, many terrorist suicide bombings, mass-demonstrations and national gatherings.
These tumultuous events have caused dirt, chaotic signage that have changed the once beautiful and ground breaking architecture of the square. However, the Jerusalem Foundation has recently renovated the Jerusalem landmark according to the design of the old Zion square.
