Jewish Quarter, Jerusalem
The Jewish quarter is one of the four quarters of the Old City in Jerusalem. It includes Zion Gate, the Cardo, the ancient Roman road, and the Western Wall or ‘Kotel’.
The Jewish Quarter is populated by thousands of residents and houses a great number of yeshivas and synagogues. The most prominent is the Hurva Synagogue that was constructed in the year 1701. It was destroyed and restored in the year 1864. but was destroyed again in the year 1948 and only in 2010 was it reconstructed again by the Israeli government and Jewish organizations.
