YMCA in Jerusalem
The Jerusalem YMCA is a sports, culture and recreational center located on King David Street in the heart of Jerusalem. It is across the street from the renowned King David Hotel, and overlooks a view of the Old City and Mount Zion.
The building, which is considered a Jerusalem landmark and one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, was designed by architect Arthur Loomis Harmon, designer of the Empire State Building in New York City.
The YMCA serves as a multicultural and non-denominational center, aiming to bring to together Christians, Jews and Arabs in the city of Jerusalem. It contains a large concert hall, a breath-taking indoor pool, sports and recreational facilities and more.
Behind the building, the famous YMCA football stadium, once home to the Ha'Poel Jerusalem soccer team, has now been converted into a luxury residence project.
The YMCA is also surrounded by lush gardens and beautiful trees, many with symbolic importance rooted in the biblical writings.
