Via Dolorosa- the Way of Suffering
Via Dolorosa is the street in Jerusalem's Old City where Jesus is believed to have walked on his way to crucifixion at the Golgotha, carrying his cross through the streets of the city. Along the road, the Stations of the Cross are marked, marking important events which occurred on this route.
Every year, many visitors to Jerusalem's Old City make their way along this route, tracing the steps of Jesus and following his course. Many come here on the holidays, like Easter, which mark the events of his crucifixion or the days leading up to it.
Also along the Via Dolorosa is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where it is believed that Jesus Christ was prepared for burial and made his resurrection. This is one of the most important streets in the world for any Christian, and it is a landmark of the Old City of Jerusalem.
