TheOld City of Jerusalem is surrounded by the Walls of Jerusalem which were builtduring the reign of Suleiman I. The current Old City Walls were rebuilt between1535 and 1538, after being previously destroyed during wars and also by anearthquake. These walls were built mainly for defense purposes but today, theyserve as one of the major tourist’s attraction in Jerusalem. The walls areapproximately 12 meters high, 2.5 meters thick, 4018 meters long, have 34watchtowers and 8 gates leading to various parts of the city. These walls givea remarkable view and millions of tourists from across the world have visitedthem to enjoy these views. Within these walls are points where you can view thebigger part of Jerusalem city. Many tourists take photos of the general view ofJerusalem from these points.
