Jerusalem - Ben Yehuda Street

Jerusalem - Ben Yehuda Street
The Ben Yehuda Street is one of the main streets that can be found in downtown Jerusalem. Ben Yehuda Street is a fabulous pedestrian shopping street mall in an area closed to motorists. The street can be found across the cross roads of Jaffa Road and the King George Street up to the Zion Square. It is named after Eliezer Ben - Yehuda who is the "reviver" of the modern Hebrew language.

The Ben Yehuda Street – Midrachov has been a major street in the city prior to state’s beginning. Since 1983, it has been closed to car traffic due to its conversion to a mall. In Hebrew, the street is called as “Midrachov” which can be translated from the two words “midracha” meaning sidewalk and “rechov” referring to street.
The pedestrian mall caters to locals and tourists alike since it is filled with souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants, street musicians day and night so you will find a great mixture of foreign visitors and locals roaming around the street mall.
