Thechurch of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem Greek orthodox patriarch of Jerusalemhas remained of great meaning and importance to Christians, especially those inJerusalem. Despite having undergone various challenges including beingdestroyed by Muslims and later rebuilt by Crusaders in 1149, the church still stands until today. Currently, this church is being shared by six Christiangroups namely: Greek Orthodox, Syrians, Ethiopians, Latin Catholics, Copts andArmenian Orthodox. The Greek altar has a silver disc and it is the place whereit is believed the cross on which Jesus was crucified stood. There is also afissure in the dome rock which is believed to have formed by the earthquakewhich occurred at the time Jesus died. Today, this church serves as theheadquarters of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.
