Situated across the outer wall of the Austrian Hospice in Jerusalem, is the 3rd station ofthe Cross. At this point, Jesus fell for the first time under the weight of the cross. Marking this station is a small Armenian Chapel named 'Our Lady of theSpasm'. A stone tablet depicting Jesus collapsing under the weight of the cross can be found above the entrance to the chapel.
After his fall, Jesus was unable to stand on his feet and the legionnaires used their whips in order and force him to stand on his feet. This station, also named Hospice Junction, is marked today by an Armenian-Catholic Church which was built in 1947 with donations from Polish soldiers stationed in Palestine during the Second World War.
