The Church of Mary Magdalene is located on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. An absolutely beautiful structure and symbol of Jerusalem, the Russian Orthodox Church of Mary Magdalene was built in 1888 by the Russian Tsar Alexander the 3rd to commemorate Mary Magdalene, the only feminine disciple of Jesus. 

The Church of Mary Magdalene in Jerusalem was designed in the tented roof style which was popular in Russia during the 16th-17th centuries.

The 7 golden domes of the Church of Mary Magdalene were recently refurbished to ebring out the glistening magnificent view of the domes of the Mary Magdalena Church on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. 

What's inside the Church of Mary Magdalene? 

Inside the Mary Magdalena Church are beautiful painting and ornaments from Russia and traditional Russian Orthodox altars. In addition to this, in the crypt of the Church of Mary Magdalene are buried:
  • Princess Alice of Greece whose remains were transferred there in 1988, as well as the 
  • Martyred nuns Varvara Yakovleva and the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia.
