Valley of the Cross in Jerusalem

The Monastery of the Cross, located in the Valley of the Cross, is an 11th century fortress, located in the valley between the Jerusalem neighborhoods of Rechavia and Rasko and adjacent to the Israel Museum and the Knesset. Built on the ruins of a 6th century Byzantine structure, the current monastery is operated and owned by the Greek Orthodox Church. This valley is believed to be the place where the cross that Jesus was crucified on originated from.
