Temple Menorah in Jerusalem
The Temple Menorah was a seven lamp stand, located in the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Built of solid gold, it was used for sacramental purposes in the Temple, and has become a symbol of Judaism and of the State of Israel. A statue of the Menorah is displayed prominently at the entrance to the Knesset building in Jerusalem, while the original Menorah disappeared during the destruction of the Second Temple. The Menorah is referenced in the Old Testament several times, beginning from the detailed instructions for its design, given to Moses in the Book of Exodus.
