Jewish Temple in Jerusalem
The Jewish Temple was a historic place of worship, located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City. The First Temple was built by King Solomon in the 10th century BCE, and destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 BCE. The Second Temple was reconstructed in 516 BCE by King Herod, and destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. While Jews pray for the construction of the Third Temple, the site is currently home to the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque.
