Long considered the lifeline of downtown Jerusalem, Ben Yehuda Street is a pedestrian mall in the heart of the city. Lined with shops and restaurants, Ben Yehuda is known by local residents as the 'Midrechov'. The street was first built in the 1920s, and named for Eliezer Ben Yehuda, reviver of the Hebrew language.
