Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem
The Al Aqsa Mosque, located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem, is considered as one of the holiest sites in Islam. This is the second house of prayer built after Mecca's Masjid Al-Haram, and it is referred to in the Quran as the "Remotest Sanctuary". The Al Aqsa Mosque is identified by its silver dome, and coupled by the nearby golden dome of the Dome of the Rock. Al Aqsa is also known by the name Bayt al-Muqaddas.
